Leading South Florida R&D university hopes to lure Israeli companies to the Sunshine State

Florida, with 22 million residents, is the third most populous state in the nation, and its three biggest counties—Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach—also happen to host the third-largest Jewish community in the United States after New York and Los Angeles.

What better place, then, for any Israeli high-tech company hoping to expand to the US market—especially given the Sunshine State’s spectacular beaches, low taxes and proximity to Latin America?

That’s the concept behind Global Ventures, a project by the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), one of the state’s largest institutions of higher learning.

The Research Park at Florida Atlantic University ® recently named the recipients of its 2021 Research Park Distinguished Awards.

The awards celebration will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. outside at The Addison, 2 East Camino Real, Boca Raton. Tickets cost $135 per person.

The annual awards recognize distinguished contributions to the Research Park at FAU’s mission to promote scientific research and development in affiliation with FAU, to foster economic development and broaden the economic base of Palm Beach and Broward counties.

Research Park at Florida Atlantic University® Based FloSpine Receives FDA Clearance for PANAMA™ Medical Device

Together with FloSpine, LLC, the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University® is pleased to announce that FloSpine has achieved 510(k) clearance for its PANAMA™ Anterior Cervical Plate System from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The PANAMA™ Anterior Cervical Plate is used as supplemental fixation to support the spine after a cervical discectomy and fusion has been performed. The system is designed with a unique screw locking mechanism that prevents screw backout after being implanted in a patient.

Research Park at FAU and GenesisCare Team Up and Offer Radiation Oncology Elective for FAU Medical Students

In collaboration with GenesisCare in Boca Raton, the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University® is pleased to announce that it has facilitated a new elective in radiation oncology rotation for fourth-year medical students at FAU’s Schmidt College of Medicine. Based in Australia, GenesisCare is the world’s largest health care provider for radiation oncology services with numerous centers throughout the United States, including the center located within the Research Park at FAU. FAU’s medical school has successfully developed partnerships with a consortium of hospitals and affiliated clinical sites throughout Palm Beach and Broward counties to support its mission of advancing the health and well-being of the community by training future generations of humanistic clinicians and scientists.

The Research Park at Florida Atlantic University® recently elected its 2021 officers, naming Michael Allison, J.D., as elected chairman and Daniel Flynn, Ph.D., as re-elected vice chairman.

The Research Park at FAU is governed by the seven-member Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority, which supports and promotes research and development in affiliation with and related to, FAU and fosters technology-led economic development in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
